WEIGHT GAIN Is being underweight a problem for you?
WEIGHT GAIN could benefit some people but this may not be as easy as it sounds. Getting to a healthy weight isn't always about losing weight. Although lots of things can affect our health, generally, people whose body weight is within a certain range tend to live longer and enjoy better health. If your BMI indicates that you are below this range your health could be at risk. Some people who are underweight have a slim constitution and are perfectly healthy. But for many being underweight means their bones may not be as strong as they should be and their bodies have fewer reserves should they become sick. People who stay thin do so because they (often by accident) eat the right amount of food to match their calorie needs. Their slimness tends to be a combination of the body shape they have inherited, their natural appetite level, what they eat and how much exercise they get. Research has shown they do not have naturally higher metabolic rates than other people and cannot magically spirit away calories. To achieve your WEIGHT GAIN you must increase your calorie intake to a higher level than the number of calories you use.You also need to increase resistance type exercises so that you strengthen your bones and your body increases your lean muscle mass and does not use the extra calories to lay down stores of fatty tissue. This can be done in a way that avoids you feeling yukky and as though you are overeating. It is very important to mention that If you have recently experienced unintentional weight loss and you always feel tired you should talk to your doctor in case you have an underlying health problem. If you intentionally limit how much you eat and worry at the thought of gaining weight you may have an eating disorder and again should see your doctor
