CYCLING
Is good for cardiovascular health.

Cycling, in my experience is easier, safer and much less daunting in rural areas where traffic density is lower. Especially if you're getting on a bit. So, how much you do will depend on you're fitness level, lifestyle and to some extent, where you live.

If you would like to start, use your bike (or trike) for short journeys, gradually increasing the distance and speed.

Where possible ride to places you would normally travel to by car or public transport. In a short time, your aerobic fitness will improve allowing you to go much further without feeling anything other than a little out of breath.

Riding a bike is good for :-

General fitness.

Cardiovascular health.

Lower body strength and power.

Balance. (Not so much if you ride a tricycle)

Ankle and foot flexibility.

Giving your knees and hips a good workout without exposing them to the shock type pressure associated with running and racket sports.

Research into Ageing's verdict;
A great form of exercise although it doesn't maintain bone-density and tricycles and stationary exercise bikes won't help your balance.
