A BALANCED DIET is what your body needs.
Only you can ensure you have a balanced diet, since you are the one who decides what you eat and drink. Balancing your diet can only result from making informed choices. It is made up by selecting elements from four main food groups, which supply your body with :- Protein. Your body uses protein to build and repair muscle. All exercise damages muscle and your body uses the elements it gets from breaking down protein to make repairs. As a rule of thumb, you need one gram of protein each day for each pound of lean muscle mass that you have. Plant nutrients and antioxidants. Obtained from colourful fruits and vegetables and help maintain health and protect the body's organs. Fibre. Obtained from fruits, vegetables and some wholegrains. Important for the efficient operation of the digestive system and helping to clear toxins from the body. Healthy fats Primarily obtained from ocean caught fish which contain high levels of omega 3 essential fatty acids. These help your body fight inflammation, benefit your skin and can help maintain a healthy heart. Sugars and sweets. May be considered a fifth food group. One that must be used very sparingly.
